Smoke Detectors
|
Smoke detectors are one of the most important safety items besides planned escape routes and fire extinguishers. Remember these important things:
- Remember to clean and test your smoke detectors often.
- Remember to change your batteries on the older 9 volt types.
Choose a memorable date each year to change the batteries. Don't skimp on the battery type either, we use the Duracell Coppertop or Procell (industrial version). Your life is on the line here. Don't leave it to chance!
- We can add smoke detectors and CO detectors to your existing alarm system if you want to have it monitored. This can often lead to insurance discounts.
- If you get CO detectors, whether the plug in type or the type that
can be hooked into alarm systems, make sure they adhere to the latest ULC or CSA requirements. Be cautious of discount store locations. They might be selling off old stock not approved for sale any longer. Resellers were permitted to sell off old stock for a period of time that is now over. All stock on the shelf must adhere to the latest UL2034 standard.
